Straight from the field to your table!

Monique has that kind of infectious positivity that works its magic as soon as she talks. A passionate businesswoman, she has been in charge of the Halles d’Anjou Farmer’s Market for over 30 years. Her love of fruits and vegetables is a family story.

"My grandfather was a farmer. My dad had a few stalls at the Bonsecours Farmer’s Market in the ‘50s. When I was young, I used to go there to help him sell his fruits and vegetables, and I eventually got in business with him. I’ve been at the Halles d’Anjou Farmer’s Market since the beginning, and I’m in it for long haul”, says Monique.

Her commitment is shared by many members of her family, including her husband and son, who are both partners in her business. Even some of her grandchildren have started to help out. “I’m very proud to say the next generation is ready to continue our long tradition. We have a lot of fun, and the customers feel it. We have a great team!”, according to the businesswoman.

Top quality fruits and vegetables offered at competitive prices have always been the hallmarks of the Farmer’s Market. Every night, we receive a fresh batch of produce from nearby sources. More importantly, Quebec products are now in season! If you have a sweet tooth, local strawberries are now offered, while on the vegetable side, you have your choice of fresh tomatoes, asparagus, cucumbers, radishes and lettuce, among many others. But the big stars are unquestionably the ears of sweet corn and the various berries now available. And if you’re looking for recipe tricks, you only need to ask the knowledgeable staff. There are also many processed products on offer, including honey, maple-flavoured treats and fleur de sel caramel. If you’re more interested in filling out your garden, you will find many herbs, cut flowers and hanging plants.

And of course, all the owners remain attentive to the needs of their customers. “We have a special relationship with our customers. For over 30 years, generation after generation has faithfully patronized the various sellers of the Farmer’s Market. They are the main reason we come to work every day” adds Monique.

The Farmer’s Market is located just outside the Halles D’Anjou mall and is open almost all-year-round.
